What is a Tear Trough Treatment?
What is often called 'dark circles' in everyday life is, medically, usually a hollow tear trough. The biological loss of fat and bone under the eye creates a shadow. This must be distinguished from true dark circles, which are caused by pigment or blood vessels. Since both phenomena have different causes, I examine your face carefully beforehand to choose the right method.
In a tear trough treatment, we gently place an extra-light hyaluronic acid under the eyes. This camouflages dark circles and evens out the shadow finely, without an overfilled look.
For treatment with hyaluronic acid, the correct depth is decisive. With a precise technique I ensure the material does not sit too superficially, which reliably avoids a bluish shimmer — the so-called Tyndall effect.
For optimal skin quality of the thin lower-eyelid skin, I optionally combine the procedure with, for example, regenerating polynucleotides. The result of this safe method is visible immediately and can be dissolved again at any time if needed.

Is tear trough treatment risky?
The eye area is demanding and requires experience. I exclusively use an extra-light, soft hyaluronic acid and work with a cannula instead of a needle — this minimizes the risk of bruising and ensures a natural result.
Will I get eye bags from the treatment?
Not with correct, deep technique and the right amount. I work conservatively and add more at a follow-up if needed. An extra-light hyaluronic acid does not attract water and does not swell — this prevents puffiness.
Does the treatment help with all types of dark circles?
Filler alone does not always help. For dark circles caused by shadowing and a hollow tear trough, yes. For true pigmentation or visible blood vessels, other approaches are more effective — I often combine the hyaluronic acid with polynucleotides for skin quality. We clarify what dominates in your case during the consultation.
How long will I be swollen, and will there be bruising?
Mild swelling for 2–5 days is normal. Bruising is rare thanks to the cannula technique and fades within 7–10 days. You should not schedule important events immediately afterwards.
Can the hyaluronic acid be dissolved?
Yes, the hyaluronic acid can be dissolved again if needed. This is one of the major advantages of the treatment.
