Hylase (hyaluronidase) is the enzymatic safety net of hyaluronic acid-based aesthetics. At minimal med, we view the ability to dissolve not as an admission of error, but as an integral part of a responsible treatment concept. Whether correcting an unsatisfactory result or dissolving in case of complications — hylase gives you and me back control.

The Treatment Process

1

Consultation: We discuss why you want to dissolve the filler.

2

Allergy test: Small skin test for first-time treatments (optional).

3

Marking: The treatment area is marked.

4

Injection: Hyaluronidase is injected into the filler.

5

Follow-up: We check the result after 48 hours.

When Hylase Makes Sense

Three scenarios make enzymatic dissolution the right decision:

  1. Aesthetic dissatisfaction with a result — When proportions are off, volume is too strong, or the outcome does not meet expectations.
  2. Migration or encapsulation of material — When hyaluronic acid has shifted or become trapped in fibrous tissue.
  3. Emergency vascular compromise — When a filler compresses a vessel and blood flow is at risk. Every minute counts.

In all three cases, experience in dosing is crucial. Too little hylase remains ineffective, too much dissolves more than intended. The right balance requires knowledge of anatomy, the product used, and the individual tissue response.

The Process of Dissolution

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that works at the molecular level, cleaving the bonds within the hyaluronic acid network. Injected into the filler area, it breaks down the gel's cross-linking and converts it into water and smaller fragments that the body naturally removes.

Dosing depends on the amount and degree of cross-linking of the filler to be dissolved. Typically, the effect is visible within hours, with full dissolution apparent after 24 to 48 hours. A follow-up treatment may be necessary if the first dose is insufficient or multiple layers need to be addressed.

Important to know: hyaluronidase can also temporarily affect the body's own hyaluronic acid in the treated area. The tissue may feel drier or flatter in the first few days. However, the natural hyaluronic acid fully regenerates in the following days — the effect is temporary and self-correcting.

Less Can Be More

I point out the option of dissolution to every patient. More doesn't always lead to better results. Considering a step back is an honest path to solutions that work long-term.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would someone want to dissolve filler?

Common reasons include: overfilling, asymmetry, lumps, filler migration, changed taste, or complications like vascular occlusion. Sometimes patients simply want to return to their original state.

Can any filler be dissolved?

Only hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Other fillers like Sculptra, Radiesse, or silicone do not respond to the enzyme.

Does the enzyme also dissolve my natural hyaluronic acid?

Theoretically yes, but the natural hyaluronic acid is quickly reproduced by the body. After a few days, the area returns to normal.

Is the treatment painful?

The injection can be somewhat uncomfortable. The area may be swollen and sensitive afterward. This subsides within 24-48 hours.

Can I get filler again afterward?

Yes, after 2-4 weeks you can have the area treated again. Then we can correct the result according to your wishes.

What does the hyaluronidase treatment cost?

The treatment starts from 200 EUR, depending on the effort and amount needed. For complications from treatments I performed, the correction is free of charge.
