The nasolabial fold is not an isolated phenomenon — it is the visible result of volumetric change in the midface. At minimal med, we don't fill the fold itself; instead, we relieve the cheek of its heaviness so the fold smooths biologically. Our approach targets restoring midface support: when we support the foundation, the fold often diminishes on its own.

Your Benefits
- Cause-oriented treatment rather than mere fold smoothing
- Indirect lifting through restoration of midface substance
- Seamless integration into the skin structure
- Preservation of natural expression dynamics
- Soft transitions rather than visible treatment edges
- Gradual approach for controlled results
How the Treatment Works
Analysis: I assess whether the fold should be treated directly or indirectly (through the cheeks).
Consultation: We discuss your desired result — subtle or more pronounced.
Numbing: Numbing cream for maximum comfort.
Injection: Precise placement of hyaluronic acid along the fold.
Review: Together we check the result.
Cause Rather Than Symptom
Why the nasolabial fold develops: cheek volume loss, gravity, midface bone resorption. The mistake of isolated filling: a plumply filled fold beside a sunken cheek looks more out of place than the fold itself. The holistic way: support the cheek, the fold follows.
The Layered Approach
Deep support at the bone vs. superficial smoothing. How different hyaluronic acid consistencies work at different tissue depths. Micro-cannula for atraumatic technique. Why combining with cheek augmentation often yields the most convincing result.
Cause Over Symptom
When my patients complain about a deepening nasolabial fold, my first glance goes to the cheek area. With age, we lose the supporting structures there — which opens up a more root-cause approach. Then we look at the area close to the nose. I want to inject as little hyaluronic acid as possible into the mobile regions above the mouth.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I treat the nasolabial fold directly or the cheeks?
That depends on the cause. For younger patients with minimal volume loss, direct treatment is often sufficient. For older patients or those with significant cheek volume loss, I often recommend cheek enhancement first — it lifts the fold from above.
Can the treatment look unnatural?
Yes, if too much product is used or the technique isn't right. I always work with the minimum amount necessary and prefer to build gradually.
Is the treatment painful?
With numbing cream and the lidocaine in the hyaluronic acid, the treatment is very tolerable. The nasolabial fold is less sensitive than areas like the lips.
How long do the results last?
In the nasolabial fold, hyaluronic acid usually lasts 9-12 months, as this area has less movement than the lips, for example.
Can I treat both sides at once?
Yes, that's the norm. Most patients have the fold on both sides, though sometimes more pronounced on one side.
What does nasolabial fold treatment cost?
The treatment starts from 299 EUR. The exact cost depends on the depth of the fold and the amount needed.
