Excessive sweating — medically known as hyperhidrosis — is not a question of hygiene but an overactivity of the sweat glands. At minimal med, we treat this overactivity through targeted blockade of the nerve fibres that control sweat production. The result: a significant reduction in sweat production at the treated areas — and a gain in freedom that extends far beyond the physical.

How the Treatment Works
Diagnosis: We determine the affected areas and intensity of sweating.
Preparation: The skin is cleansed and optionally an iodine-starch test is performed.
Numbing: For hands and feet, we use numbing creams.
Injection: Many small injections in a grid pattern over the affected area.
Follow-up: After 2 weeks, we check the results and touch up if necessary.
When Sweating Becomes a Burden
Primary vs. secondary hyperhidrosis. Why the sweat glands overreact regardless of temperature and exertion. The psychosocial burden: avoidance behaviour, clothing choices, social limitations — the invisible weight.
The Mechanism of Action
How the blockade of cholinergic nerve fibres reduces sweat secretion. Why body temperature regulation is not affected. Treatment process: starch-iodine test to identify active zones, then targeted treatment.
More Than Aesthetics
We're talking about more than aesthetics here. When patients tell me they're wearing a light-coloured shirt for the first time in years, or shaking someone's hand without thinking about it, we've created quality of life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is hyperhidrosis a medical condition?
Yes, excessive sweating without identifiable cause (primary hyperhidrosis) is a recognized medical condition. It affects about 1-3% of the population and can significantly impact quality of life.
Which body areas can be treated?
We most commonly treat armpits, hands, feet, and forehead. In principle, all areas with excessive sweat production can be treated.
Is it dangerous to sweat less?
No. The body has enough other sweat glands to maintain temperature regulation. The treated areas make up only a small portion of total sweat production.
Does health insurance cover the cost?
For diagnosed severe hyperhidrosis, some health insurers cover the costs or provide subsidies. We are happy to advise you on the options.
How long does the effect last?
Depending on the body area, 4-9 months. Usually longer on armpits than on hands. Some patients report that the effect lasts slightly longer with each treatment.
What does the hyperhidrosis treatment cost?
Armpit treatment starts from 449 EUR. Hands and feet are more complex and correspondingly more expensive. We are happy to provide you with an individual quote.
What side effects are possible?
Mild redness or small bruises at the injection sites are possible and resolve within a few days. In rare cases, compensatory sweating in other areas may occur. When treating the hands, a temporary mild weakness of the finger muscles may be experienced.
